Submitting Proposals for Workshops

The second IRREVERENTE - International Impro Festival of Lisbon will be held from July 26 to 29, 2023, in person in the city of Lisbon, Portugal.

We will receive applications by FORM proposals for Workshops for the Festival program until 18:00 (Lisbon Time) of February 28th, 2023.

It should be mentioned that IRREVERENTE continues to be produced independently, without financial support.

We know that the conditions are not ideal or the most favorable and we greatly value the work of professionals in our area, at the same time, we are also aware of and respect our production limits ,and we are doing our best.

Thus the conditions we hope to get from your workshop proposal and what we can offer you if selected to teach on the festival, are:

a) We receive the options of Workshops for 3 or 6 hours in duration.

- The 6-hour workshops will be held on the same day with a lunch break between 3 hours classes.

b) For the 3-hour workshops, the amount of 150 euros will be paid to the teacher.

For the 6-hour workshops, the amount of 300 euros will be paid to the teacher.

- Payments will be made via PayPal, after sending the invoice (Bank transfer can be done only for Portuguese accounts)

- Invoices must be sent between the 1st and 7th of August 2023 and will be paid by the14th of August 2023.

c) We will have MIXED TEAMS Workshops within our schedule. Its characteristics are the same as a 6-hour workshop taught in one single day, where an impro format/structure is taught and rehearsed to be performed on the same day of the class, on the Festival stage, at night, together with the other shows in the program.

- For MIXED TEAMS the value payed for the teacher is the same applied to any 6-hour workshop;

- The maximum duration of the MIXED TEAM show is 30 minutes, and must comply with the general conditions of any show at the Festival (click here to read the conditions for shows);

- Feel more than free to offer proposals for MIXED TEAMS Workshops (You do not need to register your MIXED TEAM Workshop as a show proposal).

d) Each teacher can submit up to a maximum of 5 different workshop proposals in total.

e) Accommodation will NOT be offered to the teachers, but we will be persistently looking for partnerships with hostels/hotels and also we will be paying attention to availability at local artists' homes that host our teachers, in order to overcome this lack of support.

f) We offer travel cost support up to 100 euros for international travel for teachers who are not resident in Portugal.

g) Festival teachers will receive the EARLY BIRD Package, free of charge, which guarantees them:

- discounts at Festival partner food establishments;

- discounts of 20% on enrollment in workshops as students;

- tickets for all night shows;

- entry to all celebration activities.

h) The Theme of the IRREVERENTE 2023 is SPACE. This theme is a guideline open to different interpretations, we value that your workshop is somehow related to the theme, but this relationship is not a priority or selection criteria.

i)  The minimum number of participants in the workshops will be 8 people and the maximum 20 people. The number of participants will be indicated by the teacher in the application form.

- The training activities of the workshops will be charged to participants. The number of participants attending in classes does not change the value offered to the teacher.

- We reserve the right to offer full or partial scholarships to participants, and we accept suggestions from the teachers regarding scholarship holders in their classes, as possible.

j) The Festival's audience will be international, so we will give preference to classes taught in English or Portuguese with the possibility of having a person to translate for the students and/or teacher. Other languages are welcome but will be subject to our translation availability.

For this reason, we ask that you have in mind a didactic in the classroom that includes the presence of a person for translation, maintaining the quality of your proposals and that you indicate whether this will be possible or not. Quality is our priority.

k) All people involved and participants, teachers and students, will be aware of and in accordance with the Festival's Code of Conduct.
